The Albion Knitting Company wanted a new flagship premises in London that would function as an office, factory and show room for visiting designers. Working together with directors Chris and Jamie we created a factory centred around its quality control department with all other elements branching off this core function.  The aesthetic is both rational yet highly theatrical with guest ascending a woven spiral staircase to achieve views over the production floor.

We made a detailed exploration into applying textile production techniques to metal construction to create some extraordinary design elements such as the woven copper cladding and the knitted steel staircase which can be seen in more detail below.

By weaving and fixing untreated metals to a timber frame without adhesives allows for the entire factory to be easily disassembled and completely moved, reused or recycled.
